How to sew the hip sack
Today’s handcrafted goods is “hip sack".
Materials
Outer body fabrics, 18cm by 17cm are 2 pieces. (Seam allowances are included, attach interfacing)
Fusible interfacing gives fabric firmness, and keeps shape of hip sack.
Inner body fabrics, 17.5cm by 16.5cm are 2 pieces. (Seam allowances are included)
Flap fabrics, 21cm by 13cm are 2 pieces. (Seam allowances are included. Attach interfacing to camouflage fabric.)
Acrylic webbing, 2.5cm by 6cm is 1 piece. 2.5cm by 9cm is 1 piece.
Velcro tapes (hook and loop fastener), 2cm by 5cm.
Make flap
1. Sew the right side of brown fabric and velcro tape (loops) together.
2. Fold the 6cm acrylic webbing in half. Then baste the camouflage fabric and acrylic webbing together.
3. Lay the brown and camouflage fabrics with right side, and sew the side and bottom.
4. Cut off extra seams, and turn inside out.
5. Stitch the edge.
Make sack body (outer)
1. Sew the outer fabric-A and velcro tape (hooks) together. Sew the outer fabric-B and acrylic webbing (9cm, fold in half) together.
2. Lay the outer fabrics with right side, and sew the side and bottom.
3. Cut off extra cloth, and press seam allowances open. Then make gusset, and sew.
4. Cut the extra seam allowances.
5. Sew the outer sack body and flap together.
Make sack body (inner)
1. Lay the inner fabrics with right side, and sew the side and bottom.
2. Cut off extra cloth, and press seam allowances open. Then make gusset, and sew.
3. Cut the extra seam allowances.
Sew the outer and inner together
1. Insert the inner sack into the outer sack, with right side together. Then sew around. (Leaving 7cm open for turning.)
2. Press seam allowances open. Then turn inside out, and iron.
3. Stitch the edge of sack mouth. It’s done.
